The Resiliency of Home

VOLUME 2: HOMECOMING - EXPLORING THE NUANCES OF HOME, PLACE, AND BELONGING IN CANADA

IN THIS ISSUE

The Resiliency of Home

Home is a place you can be vulnerable, fragmented and be your true self like the pieces of cracked glass in the middle. This is where we experience growth, challenge and change ( represented by the vines, butterflies and petals). As we work outside of the inner home ( the outside world) we represent ourselves as pieced together, beautiful and all whole. This piece shows how fragile but resilient we are - we are only our true selves at home yet the world never knows our struggles and challenges.

This piece was originally featured in The Green Room’s HOME Exhibit, a group exhibit exploring the complex topics of home and belonging, capturing the warm and harsh realities beyond the four walls of a house.
